Celebrating Olivia’s First Birthday with Special Memories

First birthday photos are always special, but Olivia’s one year old photo session was particularly poignant. Olivia lost her dad tragically and suddenly to Covid when she was only four months old. To honor his memory and ensure Olivia grows up knowing how much she is loved, we included some heartfelt touches in her first birthday session.

Olivia’s mom wanted to make sure her dad’s presence was felt during the session so Olivia wore a beautiful dress with a pin featuring a picture of her dad. This small but meaningful detail ensured that he was symbolically close to her heart during the session.

We also dedicated a part of the session to capture photos of Olivia with different memories of her dad. Mom brought in a framed picture and some of her dad’s clothing. One of the most moving moments was when Olivia wore her dad’s tie, matching the tie he was wearing in the framed picture. This image has become a session favorite.

I have had the privilege of working with this wonderful family since Olivia was a newborn. Mom and Dad are some of the nicest people you could ever meet, and Olivia is incredibly lucky to have such loving parents. My heart breaks for this family and their tragic loss, but I know Mom is strong and dedicated to keeping her husband’s memory alive for Olivia. She continues to inspire me with her resilience, making sure that each photo session captures both Olivia’s milestones and the deep love that remains a part of their lives.
